We Take the Proper Steps for Mold Removal
While mold is a fungus that exists naturally in places that support its growth, it poses a serious health risk, particularly to your immune and respiratory systems. According to the Institute of Inspection Cleaning and Restoration Certification, the non-profit organization that sets the standard for our industry, there are specific steps you need to take to effectively remediate mold infestation. Providence Fire Restoration takes them all.
If you suspect mold contamination in your home or business, our first step is to visit the site to determine if there is mold, the extent of the problem, and the location of the moisture source causing it. This is done through air quality and specimen testing, as well as a physical inspection.
Once we’ve scoped the problem, we then work to contain damage to the smallest possible area. This involves a combination of removing contaminated material and drying damp spaces, including building structures, HVAC systems, and contents, to ensure that mold-growing conditions no longer exist.

Mold Remediation Facts at a Quick Glance
1. How do I know if I have a mold problem?
Due to the fact that mold requires a moisture source to thrive, it can be controlled by controlling moisture indoors. Mold can grow in wall cavities and under flooring. You may, however, be able to smell mold. In many cases molds emit an earthy smell.
2. Can I use bleach to clean the mold?
No. Do not use chlorine bleach to clean mold. Although bleach can decolorize mold and appear to remove it, it does not and allergic reactions can still occur. The mold must be removed using safe, specific, and proven remediation protocols. Our technicians adhere to all applicable OSHA standards and follow New York Environmental Protection Agency guidelines for mold remediation.
3. Can mold affect my health?
Molds have the potential to cause health problems. Molds produce allergens, irritants and, in some cases, potentially toxic substances. Allergic reaction to mold can be immediate or delayed depending on the level of sensitivity within the person exposed.
